Trip to Portland, Oregon
Here are photos from a 2009 trip to Portland, Oregon. I was up there vising friends and never miss an opportunity to visit that town.

Portland is known for it’s fantastic bicycle infrastructure and here’s a great example. Look how wide that bike lane is on this bridge! Thats my wife Melodee in the red, her brother Josh and our friend Tess in the foreground.

Here’s a view off that same bridge.

Here’s a spot where the city removed a car parking spot and put bike racks there instead. I want to do the same in front of my shop here in San Diego. Too cool.

Since I was in Oregon there was no way I was going to miss doing the McKenzie RIver Trail with my buddy Scott. I can’t say enough good things about it.

This shot of the river along the trail shows a nice little warm spring off to the right. Nice rest spot along the trail.

On one of our hikes we came across the stellar beehive.

While checking out bike shops in Bend Oregon a found this photo of the owner of the shop riding in the 70’s with is buddies on their Klunker mountain bikes. You don’t see that everyday.

This is the swelling crown in Portland waiting for the sun to go down and for the fireworks to begin. While there are no bikes in this shot I was amazed at how many people rode their bikes to this. As we left the show there were traffic jams of bicycles spilling back out into the neighborhoods.

Here I am at a mountain made of Onyx in Bend Or.

The wife and I downing a six back while floating down the Dechutes River.

These little guys swam across the wide river and came right over to me in the Canoe for no apparent reason. Should I have offered my beer to them?
Bicycle ice cream truck in Portland.

A bunch of us going out to brunch.

Here we are after a good hike in Portland.

Cool bike, cool dog.
Really cool REI store in Bend Oregon. The building was the old powerhouse for the lumber mill that was there. It’s really cool how REI rejuvenated this old structure.
